Privacy Policy

Noxreset records and analyses nighttime sound entirely on your iPhone. Your recordings, reports and notes are never uploaded to us — we do not run a server that receives them, and there is no account to sign in to. Noxreset does, however, show ads and use analytics, and those third-party SDKs do send data of their own. This page explains both halves precisely.
Who we are
Noxreset is an iOS app published by an independent developer. You can reach us at NathanielFayqcr@outlook.com for any question about this policy.
What stays on your device
All of the following is written to your iPhone only — to the app's private storage and to NSUserDefaults. None of it is transmitted to us or to any third party:
- Night audio recordings and the short clips cut from them, stored as files in the app sandbox.
- Session summaries — duration, sleep score, snoring-like minutes, sound events, quiet-gap intervals, night-state estimates (
com.moonrest.sleep-store). - Recording checkpoints used to recover a session if the app is interrupted (
com.moonrest.recording-checkpoint,com.moonrest.recording-meter,com.moonrest.context-motion). - Morning check-in entries — how you felt, the symptoms and context you tagged, and any free-text note you wrote.
- Preferences — onboarding completion, sleep goal and focus, alert toggles and thresholds, wake and bedtime times, and your language choice (
moonrest.language).
You can delete a single night, or wipe the entire local library, from Profile & settings → Local recordings or Privacy & recordings inside the app. Deleting the app removes everything that is left.
Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone — requested only when you tap to start a recording, and used only while that recording is active. It is what makes the app work; the captured audio stays on the device.
- Motion & Fitness — used only during an active recording, to notice that the phone was moved so the report can flag that the sound context changed.
- Notifications — optional. Used for local reminders, quiet-interval alerts, the alarm and Smart Wake. All of these are scheduled on the device.
- Tracking (App Tracking Transparency) — see the next section.
Advertising identifier and App Tracking Transparency
Noxreset is free and supported by ads. On first launch iOS will ask whether you allow the app to track you across other companies' apps and websites. This controls access to your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).
If you decline, Noxreset works exactly the same. Every feature — recording, analysis, reports, alarms, soundscapes — is unaffected. The only difference is that the ads you see will be less relevant to you.
You can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, where Noxreset has its own switch. Turning off Allow Apps to Request to Track in that same screen denies the request for every app at once.
Advertising and analytics partners
Ads are served through TopOn, a mediation platform that decides which ad network fills each slot. TopOn and the networks it mediates receive data from your device — typically the advertising identifier (when you have allowed tracking), coarse device and OS information, IP address and ad interaction events. They act as independent controllers of that data, under their own policies:
| Partner | Role | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| TopOn | Ad mediation | toponad.com |
| Meta Audience Network | Advertising | facebook.com |
| Unity Ads | Advertising | unity.com |
| ironSource | Advertising | is.com |
| Liftoff / Vungle | Advertising | liftoff.io |
| Mintegral | Advertising | mintegral.com |
| Pangle | Advertising | pangleglobal.com |
| InMobi | Advertising | inmobi.com |
| Bigo Ads | Advertising | bigossp.com |
| Start.io (StartApp) | Advertising | start.io |
| Digital Turbine / Fyber | Advertising | digitalturbine.com |
| Yandex Ads | Advertising | yandex.com |
| Google Firebase | Analytics & remote configuration | firebase.google.com |
Firebase Analytics records aggregate app-usage events (such as launches and screen views) and Firebase Remote Config fetches two settings that let us turn ads on or off and adjust how often they appear. Neither receives your recordings, your reports, your notes or any audio.
No recording, clip, transcript, score or note is ever sent to an advertising or analytics partner. Audio never leaves your iPhone.
Required Reason APIs
Apple requires apps to declare why they use certain system APIs. Noxreset declares three, in its bundled privacy manifest:
NSPrivacyAccessedAPICategoryUserDefaults(CA92.1) — to store your settings and sleep records on the device.NSPrivacyAccessedAPICategoryDiskSpace(E174.1) — to show you how much space is free before a long recording.NSPrivacyAccessedAPICategoryFileTimestamp(C617.1) — to read the timestamp of the app's own recording files when recovering an interrupted session.
What we never collect
- We operate no account system, so we hold no name, email address or password.
- We receive no audio, no clip and no transcript — there is no upload path for them.
- We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or health-app data.
- We do not sell personal data.
Health disclaimer
Noxreset produces sound-based wellness observations. Snoring-like events, pause-like quiet intervals, night-state estimates and sleep scores are inferences drawn from a microphone signal — they are not clinical measurements, not a medical device output, and not a diagnosis. Microphone levels are shown in dBFS, an uncalibrated digital signal level, not a calibrated room decibel reading. If a pattern worries you, or you have daytime symptoms, please speak with a qualified clinician.
Children
Noxreset is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Please do not use Noxreset to record anyone who has not agreed to be recorded.
Your choices
- Decline or revoke tracking at any time (iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).
- Revoke the microphone or motion permission at any time (iOS Settings → Noxreset).
- Delete individual nights or the whole local library from inside the app.
- Delete the app to remove all remaining on-device Noxreset data.
Changes to this policy
If we change how personal data is used, we will update this page and the in-app policy before the change takes effect, and revise the date at the top.
